Instructor Biography

Robert Fountain

Bob Fountain has been a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Portland State University since 1992 and has taught Independent Study Statistics courses since 1997.

He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin. He then completed a second Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Statistics at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

In the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Bob teaches the full range of Statistics courses, from the introductory level to the doctoral level. He is also involved in a variety of research projects, and is a frequent speaker at international conferences in mathematical statistics.

When not at work, he’s probably on his motorcycle somewhere in the many hills surrounding Portland.
