Bugbee, Carri
Carri Bugbee is the proprietor of Big Deal PR, a virtual agency that manages campaigns and projects in public relations, advertising and online marketing. Bugbee has 20 years experience in traditional public relations and advertising, but in recent years has embraced online marketing with a vengeance, including Twitter, social networks/media, search marketing, and all things Web 2.0.
In February 2009, Bugbee received a Shorty Award in advertising for being an outstanding content producer on Twitter. She won for tweeting (anonymously) and building up thousand of loyal followers as Peggy Olson, a character from the AMC drama, Mad Men. In addition to tweeting for several Mad Men characters, she has ramped up 25+ Twitter accounts for clients, non-profit organizations, community-building, entertainment, personal and research purposes.
She has spoken about social media marketing at a number of conferences in 2009, including the 140 Characters Conference, O’Reilly Twitter Bootcamp, WebVisions, SXSWi, OnHollywood, Innotech, Communicopia, and the American Marketing Association Roundtable. Bugbee also leads the Portland Social Media Club. You can find her on nearly every social networking site as CarriBugbee.
While Bugbee has been self-employed for over 15 years, she started her marketing career working for industry heavy-weights Wieden + Kennedy and Hill & Knowlton.
