TrainDay 2009: Abraham Lincoln and the Railroads
This program is one of over 100 nationwide special events endorsed by National Train Day as part of a coast-to-coast celebration of the way trains connect people and places. The May 6 program is part of the educational programming the PSU Friends of History has been co-sponsoring with the Oregon Lincoln Bicentennial Commission as part of the 2009-2010 celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Lincoln's birthday.

The OLBC and the PSU Friends of History will also be participating in the official Train Day celebration taking place at Portland's Union Station on Saturday, February 9, 2009, where Lincoln re-enactor Steve Holgate will recreate the words and events of our 16th President, called "the greatest friend of the Pacific Railroad" by historian David Howard Bain in his book - Empire Express: Building the First Transcontinental Railroad.
