Emancipation Proclamation Ceremony, March 2008
January 1, 2008 marks the 145th anniversary of the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation. On March 4, the OLBC has arranged to have Steve Holgate, a Lincoln actor, read the proclamation before the Lincoln statue in the Park Blocks in Portland. Following that reading, students from Portland State University will be invited for a free day, to visit the Lincoln exhibit at the Oregon Historical Society. The exhibit is an official event of the ALBC.
