AMERICAN HISTORY: ABRAHAM LINCOLN
MATURE LEARNING AT WATERFORD
FEBRUARY 4, 11, 18 & 25 7-9pm
Few figures generate the public interest that swirls around Abraham Lincoln. In these lectures we will explore the political, spiritual, economic, and international significance of his life historically; and we will consider why so many people find his life profoundly meaningful today.
Many Waterford residents know – and attend - the high quality educational and cultural programs for persons age 55 and over through Mature Learning at Clark College. Now Waterford residents have the opportunity to attend a Mature Learning class right in the comfort of our own facility!
ELLIOTT TROMMALD received his Ph.D. in American History from State University of New York at Buffalo. From 1959-2000 he taught at secondary schools and universities in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts – except from 1970-77 when he taught American History in Australia at the University of Queensland. His current research focus is Abraham Lincoln and Crisis of the American Dream. Elliott has been lecturing on Lincoln for the last 10 years and is a Commissioner on the Oregon Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
