TONY WOLK to discuss his study of Abraham Lincoln

PSU PROFESSOR TONY WOLK TO DISCUSS HIS STUDY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN AND HIS "LINCOLN OUT OF TIME" BOOK TRILOGY AT THE MARCH 12, 2008 MEETING OF THE CIVIL WAR ROUND TABLE IN PSU's CRAMER HALL ROOM 494 STARTING AT 7:30pm.

At Lincoln's deathbed, Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, reportedly said

"Now he belongs to the ages." PSU English Professor Tony Wolk has taken

this immortality factor a bit further, with his "Lincoln Out of Time" book

trilogy which has just come out with its latest installment *Good

Friday*this past February. Now Wolk will talk about the creative

process that is

bringing this trilogy from manuscripts to published novels in his free

lecture "Lincoln Out of Time" scheduled for the March 12 meeting of the

Civil War Round Table in PSU's Cramer Hall Room 494 starting at 7:30 pm.

The first two installments of the trilogy (the initial offering was Wolk's

2004 Abraham Lincoln: A Novel Life) employ an alternate timeline that

temporarily transports Lincoln to America in 1955, and then details the

consequences of that temporal anomaly. Wolk drew upon 14 years of research

on America's greatest president, to give "a historically accurate feel" to

his depiction of the doomed President in the two installments. Books will be

available at the event.

Dr. Wolk earned his journalism degree at Northwestern University in

1957,and his PhD from the University of Nebraska in 1965 before moving to

PSU where he has been teaching for over 40 years. Even though Wolk had

published several academic articles and book reviews; it took his

co-teaching of a science fiction writing course with award-winning science

fiction writer Ursula LeGuin to awaken in him a desire to write novels and

to create the Lincoln Trilogy.
